2nd Annual ROCK THAT Photography Conference Stops in Detroit with Trailblazing Talent

The 2nd Annual ROCK THAT Photography Conference and Trade Show, is headed to Detroit. Hundreds of renowned and novice photographers participate in the highly anticipated three-day conference, July 25-27, at the Suburban Collection Showplace, located at 46100 Grand River Avenue in Novi, MI.

Title sponsored by Miller’s Professional Imaging, the conference will offer: photography education, business workshops, panel discussions, trade show exhibits, photo walks in downtown Detroit, and community service projects.

Founded by Detroit native and craftsman photographer, Shawn Lee, the ROCK THAT Photography Conference and Trade Show will also feature workshops addressing the following topics: “Live Lighting and Posing Demos;” “Post Production with Lightroom and Photoshop,” Photography Workflow Essentials, Art of a Good Headshot,” and “Broke Marketing” to name a few.

Hanson Fong- International, award-winning photographer and educator/Canon’s

Explorer of Light expert (San Francisco, CA)

Piper Carter- Detroiter, hip hop activist and fashion photographer. She is the first black

woman to shoot for global publications including French Vogue and British


Jenny Risher- Lifestyle and portrait photographer. Through her first book

“Heart Soul Detroit,” Risher photographed 50 iconic Detroiters. Her

second book, DCYPHERED focused on Detroit’s undocumented hip hop

community. The work was featured at the DIA for seven months.

Kahran and Regis Bethencourt- Specializing in children’s lifestyle photography and visual storytelling, the Bethencourt’s work has been featured in

Essence magazine and the Oprah Winfrey Network. Their AfroArt series and book continues to garner national attention.

Audrey Woulard- Children’s portrait photographer with published work in national

magazines: Instyle, US Weekly, and People (Chicago, IL)

Terry White- Principal Worldwide Design and Photography Evangelist for Adobe,

Inc. Named 2016 Photoshop Hall of Fame Awardee

The ROCK THAT Photography Conference and Trade Show is presented by Multicultural Association of Professional Photographers (MAPP). It is one of the largest photography conferences in Michigan featuring national industry influencers, resources and program experiences.
